Last week we gave my dad a surprise party for his retirement as well as birthday.

Blessed Lucy
I wanted to call this “Lucky Lucy” but lucky isn’t quite the right word. She is very blessed to have Colby and Kathryn as her mom and dad. They have so much love for each other which gives rise to so much love for her. They are such a cute couple. So full of happiness, friendliness and the Christian spirit.
My Favorite Mistake
About 18 months ago I shot some photos at a local preschool. My goal was to capture the children naturally as they play. Collier was just a baby in the nursery. I placed her in a bouncy seat really only concentrating on her face and beautiful eyes. I got home and noticed the horrible busy pattern on the seat. I gave her mom a free session/redo. She is now one of my best clients.

What to Wear
I thought this photo was on my blog in an earlier post, but I was wrong. I want to post this to show an example of how to properly use patterns when selecting attire for a photo shoot. Stripes and polka dots are always popular for toddlers, but they can be distracting in photos. It’s best to dress your tot in a solid top and use a pattern for the bottoms. This photo is so awesome that it is on my portrait business card (I have a separate one for weddings).
